Your words, and your privacy.
MessyNote saves your conversations, notes, and folder choices in a private account so you can return to them on another device. Other customers cannot browse your library.
What makes the app work
Authentication is handled by Supabase. The app and its note database run on Cloudflare through Sites. When you request AI help, relevant conversation or note content is sent to OpenAI. Stripe handles subscription payments; MessyNote does not store your full card number.
Voice conversations
When you choose Talk it through and allow microphone access, your audio is sent to OpenAI to understand your speech and respond aloud. Relevant saved conversation text is included so you can continue a thought. MessyNote saves the conversation transcript in your account; it does not save an audio recording. Speech transcripts can contain mistakes, and an interrupted reply may include words that did not finish playing.
Use Mute to pause microphone input or End conversation to disconnect. If a transcript cannot be saved, a temporary copy may remain in this browser so you can retry or download your words. Dictation remains a separate option and uses the speech-recognition service provided by your browser.
Signing in with Google
If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your account identifier, email address, and basic profile information, such as your name and profile image, with Supabase to authenticate your account. MessyNote uses your verified email and name to maintain your account. Google sign-in does not grant MessyNote access to your Gmail messages, Drive files, or Calendar.
Notes are processed on servers to provide these features. This service does not offer end-to-end encryption. Provider processing and retention rules also apply.
Usage and support
We record account identifiers, request times, technical errors, and AI usage amounts to keep the service working and enforce allowances. These technical logs are designed to exclude your conversation and note text.
When you submit a support ticket, we store the details you choose to share, your account identifier, and our replies. The MessyNote support team can read these tickets to help you. We may use OpenAI to help review tickets and draft responses. Your notes, conversations, and audio are not automatically attached. Please leave out passwords, payment card details, and anything we do not need to resolve your request. Replies appear in your support thread.
The waitlist
If you choose to join the waitlist, we save your account identifier and consent alongside the verified email already on your account. This records your interest in a future opening; it does not start a membership. You can leave the waitlist on its page. Deleting your account removes your waitlist entry.
Optional advertising measurement
When this option is available, you can allow or decline measurement of your first successful paid membership. Choosing Allow lets MessyNote send Meta the payment amount and currency, event time, an opaque event identifier, the public membership-page address, advertising browser/click identifiers, and browser/device information such as browser type. We use this to measure advertising and help Meta optimize delivery. This integration does not send Meta your IP address, email, card details, notes, conversation text, voice, support messages, or private account and checkout links. It uses a server connection and does not load Meta’s tracking script into the Reading Room.
Membership and checkout work either way. Sign-ins, checkout visits, free trials and later renewals are not counted as a first paid membership. A new opt-in does not authorize sharing an earlier payment.
Use “Ad privacy settings” in the app to allow or decline sharing. Your choice is saved to your account after sign-in. An Allow choice brought over from the public website needs your confirmation in the app. An imported Decline keeps measurement off. Browser settings use a 30-day expiry and expired copies are removed on your next visit. Allowed account attribution expires after 90 days, after which it cannot be used to share a purchase.
We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. Withdrawing in the app clears advertising identifiers and cancels unsent measurement events. Withdrawal cannot recall information already sent to Meta. A choice changed on the separate public website applies to that browser until you choose “Save this choice to your account” and sign in, or change the setting here. Necessary payment and event-deduplication records may remain separately from advertising identifiers. Meta processes received information under its own privacy policy.
Keeping and removing your information
You can download your library from Account and your support history from Support. Ending a subscription pauses new paid AI work; it does not delete your existing notes. Deleting your account removes notes, conversations, and support history from active app storage and requests removal of your sign-in account. Backup copies may remain for the provider’s backup retention period. Necessary payment records are retained separately. We also retain a limited trial-eligibility record after deletion to prevent repeat trials: account and subscription identifiers, trial dates, and billing environment. This record does not include your notes or conversation content.
For privacy questions, access requests, or help with deletion, email hello@messynote.com from your account email. This notice covers the MessyNote app; earlier guides and services are covered separately.
